BlackCube is a prog metal band from Lille, France. Their music is infused both with classic hard rock and heavy metal in the way that they feature a strong rythm section with heavy guitar riffs, vocal harmonies and guitar solos as well as more traditionnal prog rock with the shifts in mood and the use of atypical time signatures in their tracks and the presence of lengthy instrumental parts. In order to span over different genres in a cohesive way the duration of their tracks is quite often well beyond radio standards with the occasionnal 8-to-12 minute song. They obsess over producing music that won’t be boring and always provides something new to the listener each time they get back to it.
To this day they have released two self-produced albums: Last Exile – 2013 and Silencing The Sun – 2019, that were both well received. They plan on releasing music more often thanks to the end of COVID-19 era and a stabilized line-up.
With their incoming third album they’re expanding their sonic universe towards both light and darkness, with dreamy synth-infused parts as well as dissonant and oppressive moments. This new opus revolves around the insignificance of the human species in the universe compared to the preciousness of the human life in our world and the impact we have on earth and on each other.
